The Shore at Katathani Phuket
The Shore at Katathani on Kata Noi Beach is one of the most exclusive and romantic hotels in Phuket, probably one of our best experience on the island.
How is The Shore at Katathani?
The hotel combines all the ingredients effortlessly for a perfect escape: a location right on a beach, pool villas with jaw-dropping views, genuinely caring staff, an excellent restaurant, a good spa and countless small details that make the difference between just a regular ‘hotel stay’ in Phuket and a truly unforgettable holiday.
The Location on Kata Noi Beach
The location in Phuket is what impresses first, right on and above the secluded bay of Kata Noi Beach, a superb white sandy cove that has remained unspoiled because it’s not on any main road. Most villas offer views on this bay, and you can never get tired of such a panorama, so make sure you book a sea-view villa. The villas are magnificent, designed to take full advantage of these unique panoramas and with evident attention to small details, making it one of the best hotels in Phuket.
The Pool Villas
From your infinity swimming pool to the vintage bathroom, the personalised flower arrangements and even the Lavazza espresso machine, everything is tastefully designed to make your room a nest for a romantic holiday, and you won’t want to leave. Best of all is again this incredible view right from your bed: open your eyes, and in front of you clouds are lazily drifting above the ocean and the iconic Kata beach island, you won’t even have to raise your head from your pillow.
Sunrise, sunset and clouds drifting above the turquoise sea make the stay worth every Baht. Eventually, you will have to step out and enjoy the restaurant, and you won’t regret it. Of course, you could order in-room dining too, it’s very cool also, but you would miss a chance to dine by this beautiful beach. Just try both options anyway.
The Harbour Restaurant
The Harbor Restaurant was a lot better than most hotel restaurants we tried in the past. Set by the side of the infinity poolside and above the beach, it has a very romantic mood and offers an excellent menu (and wine list). Try the Pinot Noir beef braised short ribs (750 baht). These were so good that we had to order them again the next day! Prices are surprisingly reasonable so don’t be shy about ordering.
The mango souffle (350 Baht) came highly recommended and for a good reason. You will, of course, find a good selection of Thai dishes all well priced: Gaeng Massaman (390 Baht), Tom Yum Goong (320 Baht), Pad Thai (260 Baht) and a delicious Pomelo Salad (Yum Som Oh Goong Sod 240 Baht). If you fancy something else, the Katathani Resort next door is part of the same resort. It has another five other restaurants to choose from, including the excellent Italian restaurant ‘La Scala’ we tried on a previous visit.
The Spa
The spa is modest in size but well designed, and a must-do. Our advice is to treat yourself to an hour or two of pampering as soon as possible to cool down from your hectic life and get in a relaxed mood right from the beginning; this will help you make the best of your holiday. You won’t regret it.
The Chapel
The wedding chapel at the top of the hill is a spectacular addition to The Shore, already know to be one of the most romantic resorts in Phuket. With a 360 view of the cove below and the Andaman Sea, the chapel is the perfect place to tight the knot. The hotel can help planning your perfect wedding day.
What to Do Around The Shore
Kata Noi is a beautiful beach, and from The Shore, you are also very near the well known Kata Beach, Karon Beach and Ya Nui beach. A short drive will take you to several viewpoints and landmarks of Phuket: the Phuket Big Buddha, the beautiful Wat Chalong and further south the iconic landmark of Promthep Cape.
