Maison Napoleon restaurant and bakery in Bangtao

Maison Napoleon is a new modern restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner at the entrance of Laguna Phuket in Bangtao Beach.

A casual and trendy Restaurant in Bangtao

The cuisine is mostly casual French but also from Mexico, Latin America. The venue is already trendy and busy with customers, even during these difficult times. The atmosphere is very welcoming, with the lively background buzz of people having a good time with family and friends.

You can sit inside or outside, depending on the heat or the weather: the vast terrace at the front, the bakery area, the main dining room and the back garden. Each part of the restaurant has its unique charm, and all are equally inviting. We visited twice and enjoyed the main dining room modern decor and setting, with glass walls to let the light in but also to offer a view on the green garden. We appreciated that there was plenty of space between the tables.

Breakfast and bakery

Maison Napoleon is the younger sibling of the successful Napoleon Bakery located a few kilometres away in Cherngtalay, in the central part of Phuket. Having enjoyed the original bakery in the past, we already knew that we could expect perfect confection. We were not disappointed: croissants, feuilletés, pains au chocolats and the wide choice of bread looked beautiful. But the choice goes way beyond French pastries, and the breakfast menu is just what we needed! So if you stay at any of the hotel nearby, you can spend less on a better breakfast!

As we had a tough photo shooting day in front of us and the hotel breakfast was a bit of a letdown, we ordered a copious English Breakfast. The waitress brought our order very quickly, and it was as beautiful to look at as it was to eat, eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes and beans. And the espresso (60 baht) was done right, which is another point we usually are picky with. The list of fresh juices and healthy blended juice (140 baht) should please everyone.

Dinner

We went back to Maison Napoleon for dinner, and here again, we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. The restaurant is cosy and casual, and customers were having a good time.

As you can expect from the restaurant name, the menu is mostly French but not pretentious. It’s more of a brasserie-style with Fines de Claires (490 baht for 6), Garlic Prawn (290 baht), Beef Tartare (360 baht) or Onion Soup Souffle (340 baht)

For mains: Entrecote Frites (200g – 590 baht), Sous-vide duck breast (560 baht) or Honey Dijon Glazed Pork Loin (390 baht), and a selection of burgers at 339 baht.

Conclusion

As you can see, the prices are very reasonable for excellent food in a beautiful restaurant, and excellent service: all the waitresses speak fluent English. They can help you with your order and menu recommendations. Bangtao is now the trendy area of Phuket, and Maison Napoleon brings the perfect casual French touch that was missing to the Bangtao. And once again, don’t miss their breakfast, which is truly the most important meal of the day on holiday!
