Ku Phra Chao Meng Rai

Ku Phra Chao Meng Rai Chiang Rai is another province that important to Thai history.


The city is home to an important historical era, especially about politics and government, cultural, and ruler of the city. For those who knows history of Chiang Rai would have heard the name of Phra Chao Meng Rai or Phor Khun Meng Rai. Besides Three Kings Monument, Ku Phra Chao Meng Rai is also another important attraction since it stores cremains of Phra Chao Meng Rai which was once a governor of this city. It's located in front of Ngam Mueng Temple on Doi Ngam Mueng.

According to history, Phra Chao Chaiya Song Khram, son of Phra Chao Meng Rai, abdicated and Phra Chao San Phu Raj ascend the throne instead. Phra Chao Chaiya Song Khram took his father's cremains to Chiang Rai and established this Koo which is now called Ku Phra Chao Meng Rai.How to get there It's located in front of Ngam Mueng Temple on Doi Ngam Mueng. By car, visitors can take a route from Wat Phra Kaew then turn left at the intersection onto Roung Nakhon road. Drive around 0.5 kilometre visitors will reach Ngam Mueng road which is a T-junction. Turn right then drive about 300 metres and visitors will reach the destination.
