Kin-Kub-Ei Restaurant
Kin-Kub-Ei Restaurant is a hidden gem serving delicious southern dishes cooked by Khun Tubtim (the lady on the photos), with her family recipes, and served in a beautiful garden hidden from the main road on the way to Bangtao Beach.
Kin-Kub-Ei Restaurant Phuket
The place is somewhat unique, only opened three days a week and only with reservation, which makes it a little challenging to plan. The food served is so good and affordable, Kin-Kub-Ei received a ‘Michelin Bib Gourmand’ from the Phuket Michelin Guide, which stands for quality food and good value cooking.
The garden is lovely, and while the seats are limited, you can choose to eat outside or under the covered salas. The atmosphere is timeless and very relaxing, and with such delicious food to share with your friends, the way Thai do, it’s an excellent opportunity to experience real Thailand.
You will find Kin-Kub-Ei restaurant (which means ‘Eating with Auntie’) in Cherngtalay, not far from Blue Tree Waterpark on the way to Bangtao. Keep in mind to call well in advance to make a reservation; don’t just show up.
What to Order
The menu is limited and changes according to the season and what’s on the market, which means that some dishes are to what the chef will cook on that day. As it is southern food, some dishes can be spicy, and some local ingredients can be a little intense or unusually looking, but this is all the fun of real travelling! Be adventurous and open-minded; you will discover new culinary horizons.
Opens: Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 11 am – 6 pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday closed)
