Phra Mae Ya Shrine
Situated by the Yom river, this is a highly respected shrine which has the idol of Phra Mae Ya, a local deity worshipped by the people of Sukhothai.
King Ramkhamhaeng the great is known to have built this in remembrance of his mother. The small cave has to be entered via a stairway of nagason the railing. This is a beautiful and unique temple which can make you feel in contrast to the ancient ruins of Old Sukhothai.
An alternative to the ruins of the historical park, this shrine is a cave temple in a remote part of Sukhothai.
