Ja Toi Restaurant
This local restaurant is a popular place for locals and Chinese tourists specifically for a certain reason.
What makes is this restaurant so unique, besides the pretty cool atmosphere, is the fact that they serve some unusual ingredients. At Ja Toi, they serve for example fried boar, fried Muntiacus and shark. In order to make these ingredients tasteful, they add a large number of herbs to the dishes. This is some of the spiciest food I’ve tried, even though I asked for a less spicy version. Luckily, the menu has plenty of other “normal” Thai dishes that are more suitable for Western tourists. One final note regarding the shark: these small sharks are accidentally caught by fishermen. It’s not that these fishermen particularly hunting for sharks.
