Leng Kee Restaurant Pattaya

Leng Kee Restaurant Pattaya is an extremely popular Chinese restaurant found on Central Pattaya Road, a short distance from the junction with Soi Buakhao. Serving an impressive range of Asian dishes - and particularly seafood - at good prices, it is very rare to see the place empty of patrons at any time of the day or night.

Being open 24 hours, Leng Kee Restaurant Pattaya is quite popular amongst those on or returning from a night of partying. Conveniently located, the quality of the food is high, the service is good and prompt and the prices are impressively reasonable, making it a good option for those with the midnight munchies. Beyond that, the furnishings are comfortable and, while the décor may be aging, it is still clean and smart, making it also a good and popular place for a nice dinner.

Advertising itself as a Chinese seafood restaurant, the highlights of the compendious menu include an entire page dedicated to crab dishes, another to prawns and a further one to fish. Most of the preparations stem from the Orient and include steamed sea crab in Chinese Soy Casserole (charged by the weight of the crab), serpent fish’s head in coconut milk (300 baht) and stir-fried prawns with XO sauce (charged by the weight of the prawns).

Other notable menu items include a range of duck dishes, such as roasted duck with gravy sauce (available in various sizes and charged at 150, 200 or 400 baht). There is also a wide selection of Thai dishes, to which some of the restaurant’s popularity (particularly amongst the locals) could be ascribed. Many of the ingredients in use can be seen in the open kitchen, including the live prawns and crabs and the roasted ducks…which are definitely not alive.

The majority of Leng Kee Restaurant Pattaya is open to the street, though remains comfortable and, thanks to numerous fans, cool and adequately fresh. There is an air-conditioned section behind a glass wall, which can be used for a small charge. However, the seating is just as comfortable in the main area as it is the air conditioning. As evening draws in and the restaurant gets busier, tables and chairs are often set out in the adjacent soi to accommodate the extra custom.

Although being right by one of the busiest roads in Pattaya does somewhat spoil the ambiance, Leng Kee Restaurant Pattaya remains a good place for dependably tasty food, one of the best places in town for duck and probably the finest late-night restaurant in Pattaya you are ever likely to find.
