Casa Pascal Restaurant Pattaya

Casa Pascal Restaurant is, as the name suggests, a charming house belonging to Pascal – namely, Pascal Schnyder and his wife Kim. Their place on Second Road stands out as one of the best restaurants in South Pattaya, with a particular focus on the use of high quality ingredients to provide a sumptuous yet surprisingly affordable fine-dining experience.

Fine Dining Restaurant in South Pattaya

Pascal is deservedly proud of his products and he and his wife can often be seen helping out the perfectly friendly and efficient serving staff in the classic-styled dining room, moving amongst the Grecian pillars and potted ferns to check on their customers. Pascal will happily tell you that the tasty salmon starter is made with imported Balik salmon which, as he will explain, is known in the business as being one small step from the very best fish available, but one giant leap down in price. That saving is passed on to the diner, along with a variety of delightful tastes in such a simple dish.

The main courses really excel. The signature dish, which carries the restaurant’s name, is salt-baked sea bass. It emerges from the kitchen as a large platter encased in what appears to be a grubby white shell but is, in fact, a thick crust of salt. Once it has been chiselled out, the fish’s favour is amazingly amplified, making it complement the taste of the hollandaise sauce it is served with, rather than being smothered by it.

Casa Pascal Restaurant is also the undisputed king of Lobster Thermidor in Pattaya. The crustaceans have to be requested a couple of weeks in advance to allow time for them to be specially shipped in but, once they are, the specials menu will be flooded with lobster-based dishes until the supply runs out. Almost uniquely for fine dining restaurants in Pattaya, these are the distinctive Atlantic lobsters as opposed to the pincer-less Phuket rock lobsters which are much more common around town. Each preparation is as remarkable as the last, but we definitely recommend the rich Thermidor sauce, which will cost 850 baht.

The restaurant, located just over the road from the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa, is also renowned for its brunch buffet barbecues, with the range of breads alone being extensive and enticing. They are joined by freshly-cooked eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, pasta, potatoes, salads, soups, fruits, fish and a friendly atmosphere. At just 210 baht (plus tax), it is also impressively affordable for the level of quality on offer, but you could say the same about pretty much everything at Casa Pascal Restaurant.
